Openly Gay Republican to run for Presidential Nomination

Fred Karger stopped by Washington Unplugged to announce he, just hours before, filed his intent with the FEC to run for the Republican nomination for U.S. President in 2012.





Why is he Running? Karger said, "It was the culimnation of a lifetime of political work." He also added, "It was a very exciting moment."

Karger goes on to state that he, "wants to be a different kind of Republican," and that he "considers [himself] to be progressive."

He wants to open up the Republican party, because it "should not be dominated by one faction or another. It should be open to all."

In explaining his hopes to state his arguments in the Republican presidential debate he said, "If I can get in one or more of these presidential debates, I will make History."
