Respect for Marriage Act hopefully to replace DOMA

Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Tuesday announced a bill that would end the federal law that defines marriage as being between a man and a woman. Later the White House said it backed the California lawmaker's Respect for Marriage Act.

Feinstein's announcement precedes a Wednesday hearing by the Senate Judiciary Committee that will discuss repealing all three sections of 1996's Defense of Marriage Act, which says marriage is a "legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife".

"I think eyes have opened," Feinstein told the National Press Club on Tuesday.

"More and more people across this land know people who are gay, who want to have a lasting relationship, who look at marriage as an economic agreement as well as an emotional agreement," said Feinstein, who was one of 14 senators to vote against DOMA.

"This legislation would uphold the principle that the federal government should not deny gay and lesbian couples the same rights and legal protections as straight couples," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters on behalf of President Obama, who has recently said that his stance on same-sex marriage is "evolving".

Also evolving is former New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, who recently said the GOP should also move past the gay marriage debate.

"I think the Republican Party would be well advised to get the heck out of people's bedrooms and let these things get decided by states," Giuliani told Candy Crowley on Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."

Giuliani, who says he is against same-sex marriage, sees "more harm, however, by dwelling so much on this subject of gays and lesbians and whether it's right or wrong in politics."

DOMA, which was signed into law by President Clinton, prevents legally married same-sex couples from filing joint federal income taxes while claiming certain deductions, receiving spousal benefits under Social Security, taking unpaid leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act when a loved one falls seriously ill, and obtaining the protections of the estate tax when one spouse dies and wants to leave his or her possessions to the other.

Trial: Openly Gay Student Shot and Killed in Classroom

To the right you will find a picture, Brandon McInerney, of the shooter. A now 17 year old boy, who is on trial for gunning down his openly gay classmate, 15 year-old Lawerence King in a computer lab at E. O. Green Junior High School. Brandon allegedly shot Lawerence twice, once in the back of the head and the second shot was delivered standing over Lawerence in a "coup de grace shot" as County Chief Deputy District Attorney Mike Frawley.

The two boys were in computer lab typing up papers for their English class, when Brandon fired a relative's gun at Lawerence. Lawerence was first shot in the back of the head, killing him immediately. Then Brandon stood above him allegedly and shot him one more time.

Lawerence King was openly gay and said to be very proud by other students. He was known to wear jewelry and make up and often to wear high-heeled boots with his school uniform. He was teased and bullied (but it didn't stop him). Brandon McInerny was teased and bullied because King was public about his crush on McInerny, students said.

A student and friend of King said that the day before McInerny told her that he could get a gun and to say good bye to her friend. She also noted that she had seen McInerny with a group of older boys afters school and they all had swastika tattoos.

"There were no words exchanged. He just pulled out the gun and did it," Frawley said Tuesday, "The victim didn't even see it coming."

McInerny is being tried as an adult for the crime he committed at 14, 3 years ago. Jurors heard opening statements on Tuesday, July 06th, 2011. McInerny is being charged with first-degree murder, use of a handgun, and a hate crime. Its a damn shame this ever had to happen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is truly sad. Its another reason that segregating gays via the law or any other outlet needs to stop. I don't feel students need to be taught about gay sex by any means, by I do think they need to be taught not to hate LGBT the same way they are taught not to hate other races.

These Presidents that are actively pursuing keeping marriage as only between man and a woman are seriously damaging the youth of the United States, being one of the biggest roll models, if they are to make it into office, they are teaching the youth that LGBT citizens are second class citizens. Its not right by any means and by them no longer continuing this battle or fight to "protect marriage" we can prevent stories like the one above from ever becoming existent.

Every person in this world is responsible for the ideas that they may bring to the table that could in any way influence the youth around them. We need this world to be of peace and equality, we may never fully achieve it, but we can get as close to it as we can in this life time, it really just depends on ones self and how much effort everyone is willing to contribute. Its not hard to be a good person, you don't have to try, it doesn't take a lot of energy.

Michele Bachmann, an uneducated American Racist.

Anyone following anything Michele Bachmann has been saying lately should know that she is highly uneducated in American History... well, just highly uneducated period. Fact checking would do her more good than bad.

"...It didn't matter the color of their skin, it didn't matter their language, it didn't matter their economic status, it didn't matter if they descended from nobility, or whether they were of a higher or a lower class... it made no difference. Once you got here we are all the same."

Irish, white men, were treated completely different. Signs posted in business denying Irishmen jobs before they even went in to apply. Blacks were sold here as slaves, the Native Americans were even stabbed in the back by the founders who "came in peace".

"...we know their was slavery that was still tolerated when the nation began. We know that was an evil and it was scourge and a block and a stain upon our history. But we also know that our founding fathers that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States. And I think it is high time that we recognize the contribution of our forebears who worked tirelessly, men like John Quincy Adams, who would not rest until slavery was extinguished in the country."
  • The constitution itself established that a slave is 3/5ths of a person.
  • George Washington himself owned slaves.
  • John Quincy Adams did work against slavery, but he was not a founding father. She did however imply that he was. He died years before emancipation and the Civil War.
She has said the Revolutionary War began in New Hampshire, though it had begun in Massachusetts. She confused New Hampshire history for Massachusetts history... big mistake. NH natives take their history very seriously and are proud of their home state. Whoops...

Bachmann who launched her campaign in Waterloo, Iowa, which by the way is her HOMETOWN, said to a Fox News reporter, that she was proud to be in a town that John Wayne was from, because she embodied his ideals. Only problem is that the actor John Wayne was not from Waterloo, however, the serial killer John Wayne Gacy was.

Bottom line is this, this Tea Party Joke of an American Politician does not deserve any kind of Presidential Nomination. Although if she were to get it for the Republicans, it would not be hard for Obama to claim another 4 years in the white house and maybe finally keep all his promises and lead our country down the right path.

She tries to defend marriage by glorifying or sugarcoating slavery in the past, by doing nothing other than offering up "facts" that are completely inaccurate (no surprise there) and by signing vows against Islam and Homosexuality (because those two go hand in hand). She claims she as president will not interfere with any state that votes in its own laws, yet would define marriage only as between a man and a woman and root that into the United States Constitution, which would in turn interfere with and overturn any existing marriage equality laws. Hypocrite much?

I'm really sick of this bitch. She needs to get off the podium. What's lame is Republicans will not invite Fred Karger (Republican) to any Republican Debate, mainly because he is gay. He gets his facts straight, but he's gay so he's not worth it. I believe there is a law against discrimination based on sexual orientation. I personally believe they are discriminating against him as well. Not to mention all the shady shit Mitt Romney has been pulling and HOPING to fly under the radar with isn't quite working out, due to Karger personally filing formal complaints against him seeking full investigations to all of his fraud.

No Country for Haters

Her top priorities are:
  • Restore our economy and create millions of jobs
  • Repeal Obamacare and its unconstitutional mandates
  • Achieve deep cuts in spending to reduce America's debts
  • Strengthen the family and defend marriage
  • Rebuild respect for America as the shining city upon a hill.
Michele, you have got to be kidding me. Your first three priorities are the same priorities as everyone else running for president so kudos to being original, with an original plan, dumb. Your last two of 5 priorities completely contradict each other. The reason America isn't respected is because we are considered too arrogant.

Defending marriage and deny equal rights to everyone. Rights that you have, you don't want others to have. That's called arrogance, because you THINK, you don't KNOW, you THINK its a choice to be gay. Because YOU THOUGHT its a CHOICE, it must make you right... correct? No, its not correct you are fucking arrogant. You should be focusing on this war. Let me break it down for you.

We have been attacked ZERO times since 9/11. Terrorism has not come to our shores since that day. You want to reduce spending and save money? How about we as United States stop being so fucking arrogant and mind our own god damn business. Pull our troops out and bring them home. Defend our nation from the shore, and not go on the offense. Lets sit back and think about this, since the "WAR" started we've gone how much money into debt? TRILLIONS! That's ridiculous, the government starts cutting funding to areas of this nation where its needed like hmm, I don't know EDUCATION.

Now lets talk about MARRIAGE... if you want to defend marriage, fight divorce rates. When a heterosexual can marry 8 + different times, and a same-sex couple who has been together 30 years monogamously can not... you have a problem. You have arrogance and audacity, two of the biggest reasons why others do not respect us. Your husband, Mr. Turn Them Straight, calling us Barbaric ONLY because he FEELS he's above us... he's an asshole.

I want to know the exact day you two woke up, and said to yourself, well I could TOTALLY BE GAY and I COULD TOTALLY BE STRAIGHT... Hmmm, I choose straight. You never made a choice because it is not a choice. No person would ever put themselves in the position to be harassed, potentially harmed, or even worse beat to death? Tell you what, why don't you make the choice to wear all of your expensive jewelry and tote behind you all of your most valuable possessions and walk through Harlem, or Watts? You will get robbed, you will most likely get hurt, and if any of these attackers may know your name and who you are you may be taken as well. You wouldn't put yourself in that position now would you? Of course not. No one in their right mind (and don't fucking say we are not in ours) would put themselves in a position to struggle for their entire life.

As for changing gays back to straight... no guilt causes a person to lie and say they are no longer gay. Manipulation and scare tactics cause a person to SAY they are straight, but all they are doing is lying. You don't turn from Gay to Straight, you don't turn from Straight to Gay. You either are or your not or you are both. You might as well try to turn a black man into a white man, or a white man into a black man. Its not possible it won't happen. If someone is out it means they are telling the truth because they mustered up the testicular fortitude to come forward and risk losing everything important to them to ignorance.

NEWS FLASH MICHELE BITCHMANN... MORE THAN HALF THIS COUNTRY SUPPORTS GAYS AND GAY MARRIAGE... you want those votes? Step down, you're ridiculous. Fuckin Palin wannabe.

Presidency follows a legacy.

Abraham Lincoln said it best, "Those who deny the rights of others, deserve rights not for themselves."

The country will revolt against you in a heart beat.

I am going to re-quote Adam Kokesh for this post as well as the previous post.
